Essential Job Duties
- The application of treatments to research subjects according to protocol including pesticides, fertilizers, and irrigation
- Operation of a wide variety of agriculture equipment to prepare fields, apply treatments, and harvest crops.
- Assisting research personnel with plot layout, implementation of treatments, and collection and recording of data.
- Hand planting and harvest
- Assisting research personnel in the seed lab and swine facility.
- Working with various types of irrigation equipment including laying solid set pipe and drip irrigation.

Other Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of agricultural practices related to crop and livestock production.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a routine basis with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Ability to operate farm machinery.
- Ability to communicate in both oral and written form.
- Ability to read and follow pesticide labels and research protocols.
- Ability to collect and record data accurately.
- Prior to permanent status, one must obtain a medical respirator certification showing no significant medical impairment when wearing a negative-pressure respirator.
Preferred Qualifications
- Agriculture production experience.
- Experience in agriculture and/or swine production and agricultural research.
- Experience operating and adjusting farm equipment including calibration.
Required License or Certification
- A valid NC Driver’s License and the ability to obtain an NC Driver’s License within 60 days of hire.
- A valid Driver’s License must be maintained throughout employment.
- Public Pesticide Applicators Licenses or obtained within six months of hire.
- NCDA forklift driver licenses within six months of hire.
