Job Description:

Reporting directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, this newly created Assistant / Associate Vice President position is responsible for the overall vision and strategy for recruitment, enrollment, financial aid, and retention across all programs and student cohorts. The AVP is expected to help reimagine and lead traditional enrollment teams and functions in a dynamic context.

The Assistant / Associate Vice President is responsible for working with community leaders and partners to identify needs and opportunities for growth of RVCC programs throughout the service area. The AVP provides college-wide leadership, supervision, and budgetary oversight of the following enrollment: Admissions, Records/Registrar, Advising, Financial Aid, and Academic Scheduling. The AVP will work collaboratively with other college departments to create an inclusive, welcoming enrollment, retention, and transfer processes that foster a sense of community among students throughout their time at the college.

Essential Duties:

Lead enrollment planning efforts by working closely with colleagues across the college and community partners to develop, implement, assess, and modify a multi-year strategic enrollment plan with associated strategies aligned to the College's strategic plan and divisional plans.

Provide leadership, administrative, and fiscal/budget oversight and policy, procedures, protocol, and process development for enrollment, persistent, and retention across a variety of student cohorts and demographics.

Develop, maintain, and assess short-term and long-term strategies and initiatives for enrollment and college growth.

Develop, lead, and sustain short-term and long-term strategies to support recruitment and outreach; diversify efforts to offset the effects of demographic trends.

Provide leadership to the advising and onboarding teams to develop, implement, and assess proactive advising policies and practices that support conversion, retention, completion, and transfer.

Collaborate with the Honors College, the RISE (Returning & Incarcerated Student Education) program, and K-12 Partnership team to support enrollment, retention, and persistence of these student cohorts.

Partner with academic leadership to understand market demands and address capacity and qualifications specific to individual academic programs.

Develop and sustain a network of professional contacts at high schools and other community agencies to enhance and expand student recruitment of traditional and non-traditional students.

Ensure robust financial aid counseling and payment support is provided to students.

Drive and oversee the strategic application of client management software (CRM) and its connection to Banner systems, including performing data analytics, to help implement and monitor enrollment strategies.

Coordinate and collaborate with the Marketing and Communication department to develop and implement a communication plan for prospective and continuing students to promote engagement in College programs and functions.

Collaborate with academic department faculty and deans to develop and maintain an academic schedule which supports student enrollment, persistence, and retention.

Ensure compliance with federal and state legal and regulatory requirements as they relate to student records and administration of financial aid (federal and state).

Develop appropriate metrics and tracking mechanisms to assess the outcome of all plans, events, and activities to determine effectiveness; and adapt as needed.

Oversee budgeting and financial reporting activities for assigned departments.

Advise the President and Provost in matters related to enrollment and lead major enrollment and academic partnership initiatives as directed by the Provost.


 
Job Requirements:


Master's degree.

Minimum of 8 years of administrative leadership and enrollment management in higher education.

A record of effective supervision in guiding, leading, and motivating individuals, working collaboratively as a member of a team.

Demonstrated expertise in working with various internal and external constituencies.

Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Experience with strategic planning, budgeting, and program development and the ability to translate strategic imperatives into actionable plans.

Proficiency in leveraging technology for service improvement, with emphasis on digital transformation and innovative solutions in student services.

Exceptional communication skills, including effective writing, public speaking, presentation, and persuasive competencies.

Organizational skills and proven ability to problem-solve.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in a Community College setting, preferred.
