JOB OVERVIEW:

Community Beyond Violence (CBV) is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as our Executive Director, reporting directly to the board of directors. This pivotal role involves overseeing both the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of our programs and staff. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of current trends in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault, along with a proven track record in developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies. In addition to leading and managing our team, the Executive Director will be instrumental in shaping an organizational culture that champions diversity, equity, and inclusion. Building and nurturing relationships with local community groups and stakeholders will also be a key responsibility. As the public face of our organization, the Executive Director will play a crucial role in advancing our mission within the community. We are looking for a leader who excels in clear communication and demonstrates decisive leadership qualities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Planning & Implementation

  • Collaborate with CBV Board of Directors to develop and implement a strategic plan addressing domestic violence and sexual assault in Western Nevada County.
  • Align the plan with agency goals and community objectives for violence prevention and intervention, incorporating best practices and measurable outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary embodiment of organizational values and commitment, playing a critical role in setting strategy and achieving desired outcomes.
  • Articulate the organizational vision, strategic needs, and overall strategy, fostering alignment across the organization.

Fundraising & Donor Relations

  • Drive the creation of an environment conducive to fundraising success by crafting a compelling vision, developing effective materials and pitches, orchestrating impactful campaigns, and optimizing resources such as staff, volunteers, and technology.
  • Lead donor development efforts, encompassing donor identification, engagement, and cultivation to secure sustained financial backing for our programs. Executive Director, Community Beyond Violence
  • Cultivate a robust fundraising ethos within the organization, empowering board members, staff, and volunteers to adeptly articulate our mission and effectively attract vital resources, whether in the form of donors, volunteers, or collaborative partnerships. Programs & Activities
  • Work with the board, staff, and other stakeholders to ensure that the mixture of programs and activities is achieving the organization’s mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Oversee program administration and performance, collect, and analyze data to determine progress in meeting agency-wide goals, and develop strategies to improve the delivery of services.
  • Develop new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization.
  • Establish consistent, objective, program-performance standards of accountability, and a program evaluation framework to assess the strengths of programs and to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop funding proposals for critical programs to ensure the sustainable delivery of core services. Community Relations & Communications
  • Formulate and execute a comprehensive marketing plan, encompassing targeted outreach strategies tailored for potential clients and stakeholders.
  • Cultivate and nurture robust relationships within the sector and region, engaging with peers, donors, industry associations, the media, and other relevant entities.
  • Foster alliances and strategic partnerships, demonstrating a collaborative approach with other organizations while upholding transparency.
  • Maintain regular communication with stakeholders and the public through various channels, such as periodic impact reports, email updates, annual reports, public presentations, local media platforms, and newsletters.

Human Resources

  • Develop and administer sound personnel practices to encourage the personal and professional growth of agency employees.
  • Participate in recruiting, hiring, supervising, evaluating, and terminating staff as necessary. Executive Director, Community Beyond Violence
  • Take responsibility for delegation, decision-making, creating clear staff roles (job descriptions), and supervising collaborative tasks to ensure that they are conducted efficiently, inclusively, and with respect.

Financial Management

  • Work closely with the Finance Director to develop and manage an annual organizational budget, presenting regular statements of activities to the Board for approval.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in reading, creating, and comprehending financial documents, including budgets, cash flow statements, income statements, balance sheets, audits, and financial controls.
  • Conduct research to identify and secure funding opportunities that diversify CBV's funding model beyond government grants, enabling a more comprehensive approach to addressing interpersonal violence in Western Nevada County.
  • Develop and submit applications, proposals, and reports, while monitoring grant and program activities to ensure alignment with funder expectations and the agency's overarching goals.

Operations & Technology

  • Foster an environment conducive to success across all tiers of the nonprofit, ensuring seamless operations and functionality.
  • Guarantee the timely fulfillment of obligations such as vendor payments and staff remuneration, while also ensuring punctuality in meetings and maintaining safe working conditions and physical spaces for both staff and clients.
  • Implement and maintain appropriate hardware and software solutions to facilitate fundraising efforts, collaboration, document management, communication, productivity, and record-keeping.

Board Engagement

  • Forge strong collaborative ties with the board, empowering them with the necessary resources to drive impactful change and foster organizational growth. This involves providing comprehensive support in their operational, administrative, and strategic planning endeavors, as well as, facilitating effective information dissemination.   • Play a pivotal role in nurturing and fortifying all aspects of board functionality, including meetings, policy adherence, recruitment efforts, and committee operations, to ensure their sustained effectiveness.
  • Serve as a bridge between the board and the staff, facilitating seamless communication and alignment of objectives to enhance organizational cohesion and effectiveness.

Compliance

  • Take charge of the oversight of our 501(c)(3) status, including supervision of contracts, financial matters, staff operations, and organizational activities.
  • Collaborate closely with the leadership team to guarantee compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, and establish robust monitoring systems. Striving for excellence beyond mere legal obligations, ensure that CBV consistently upholds the highest standards within the industry and the region.

Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated proficiency in budgeting, grant writing, fundraising, donor engagement, and program management.
  • Exceptional communication skills, evidenced through articulate written and verbal expression.
  • Established track record of effective organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Thorough understanding of personnel development principles, including experience in supervising both paid professional and volunteer staff.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in public speaking and fostering community relations.
  • In-depth knowledge of the dynamics and challenges surrounding interpersonal violence, coupled with a steadfast commitment to principles of trauma-informed care and continuous professional development.
  • Effective problem-solving skills, marked by sound judgment and emotional maturity, with a focus on non-violent conflict resolution and boundary maintenance.
  • Ability to foster an inclusive office culture that embodies agency values, cultivating an atmosphere of trust, collaboration, and transparency, while championing diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.

Extent of Authority :

Executive Director, Community Beyond Violence

  • The Executive Director holds the responsibility for all managerial and supervisory decisions concerning the daily operations of CBV.
  • The Executive Director serves at “the will” of the Board of Directors and is accountable to the Board of Directors, with the President of the Board, or their designee, specifically serving as their supervisor designee.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field; Master's degree preferred
- Proven experience in operations management, project management, strategic planning, and leadership roles
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage complex relationships
- Demonstrated success in business development and driving organizational growth
- Experience in process improvement initiatives and senior leadership positions

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
