Overview

The CEO of the Wyoming Children's Society (WCS) serves as the primary leader, visionary, and spokesperson for the organization. This role involves overseeing all aspects of the agency's operations, including strategic planning, program development, fundraising, financial management, and community outreach. The CEO is responsible for ensuring that the organization’s mission to build healthy families through adoption while advocating for children, birth families, and adoptive families is effectively carried out through various programs and services. Key duties include working closely with the Board of Directors, managing staff, fostering relationships with stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep commitment to child welfare, and the ability to inspire and mobilize support for the agency’s goals.

Core Responsibilities

Leadership and Vision:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans that align with the mission and goals of the agency.
  • Provide visionary leadership to ensure the agency remains focused on its objectives and adapts to changing needs.

Board of Directors Support:

  • Schedule, organize, and facilitate monthly board meetings and committee meetings.
  • Assist with board development, recruitment, orientation, and on-going board training.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to set agency policies and strategic direction.
  • Report regularly to the Board on the agency’s progress, financial status, and key issues.

Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient and effective management of the program and services.
  • Lead, coach, and manage staff to promote a productive and supportive work environment.
  • Manage human resources including staff recruitment, interviews, hiring, evaluations, and development & training.
  • Ensure building maintenance is maintained and scheduled.

Financial Oversight:

  • Develop and manage the agency’s budget, ensuring financial stability and sustainability.
  • Oversee the agency’s fiscal activity including daily transactions, payroll, internal controls, reporting, policies and procedures, contract negotiations, investment portfolio, and financial reviews.
  • Oversee fundraising activities, including donor relations, grant writing, and major campaigns.

Community and Public Relations:

  • Act as the primary spokesperson for the agency, representing WCS to the public, media, and community stakeholders.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with community partners, government agencies, and other key stakeholders.

Program Development and Evaluation:

  • Ensure the development, implementation, and evaluation of agency policy, procedure, and services that effectively serve the needs of women, children, and families.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement in program delivery.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to the organization, including financial, operational, and reputational risks.

Advocacy and Policy:

  • Advocate for policies and practices that benefit women, children, and families at the local, state, and national levels.
  • Engage in public policy discussions and represent the agency in relevant forums.

Skills Required

  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide staff and stakeholders towards achieving agency goals.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing short and long-term goals and strategies.
  • Ability to anticipate future trends and challenges, and plan accordingly.
  • Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, and financial planning.
  • Experience in fundraising, grant writing, and managing donor relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively convey the agency’s mission, values, goals, and needs to a diverse audience.
  • Strong networking skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, partners, and donors.
  • Experience in managing day-to-day operations including overseeing staff, programs, and services.
  • Ability to streamline processes and improve agency efficiency.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to tackle complex challenges.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and make timely, effective decisions.
  • Experience in policy advocacy and representing an agency in public forums.
  • Strong ethical standards and integrity in decision making.
  • Commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in all actions.

Qualifications (Minimum Requirements)

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, non-profit management, social work, or public administration, or equivalent field and five (5) years of full-time, work experience in administration, staff supervision, budget, and fiscal management.
  • Valid USA driver’s license and insurance are required.
  • State-wide travel is required for this position, including visiting local business and events in public places.
  • Ability and willingness to work outside normal business hours including evenings and weekends to attend meetings beyond the framework of the normal working schedule.

Pay/Benefits

Pay is commensurate with experience.

Benefits include:

  • Simple IRA with 3% match after 1 year of employment
  • Vacation: 3 weeks/year
  • Sick Leave: 2 weeks/year
  • Holidays: 11 per year

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
