Job Title: Director of Human Resources
 
Location: Jones College, Ellisville, MS
 
Reports To: Executive Vice President of Business Affairs
 
Job Summary: As the Director of Human Resources at Jones College in Ellisville, MS, you will play a pivotal role in leading the human resources function to support our mission of providing quality education and fostering a positive work environment for our employees. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of HR operations including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits administration, performance management, training and development, compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and maintaining employment contracts.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the college's overall mission and strategic objectives.
  • Oversee the recruitment and selection process, ensuring timely and effective hiring to meet staffing needs across various departments.
  • Manage employee relations issues, providing guidance and support to supervisors and employees to foster a productive and inclusive work environment.
  • Administer compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitive offerings that attract and retain talent while managing costs effectively.
  • Lead performance management programs, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and professional development planning.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and capabilities, aligned with both individual career development and organizational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, staying abreast of changes and implementing necessary updates to policies and procedures.
  • Maintain employment contracts and agreements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal requirements and college policies.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to anticipate and address future HR needs based on strategic goals and workforce trends.
  • Manage HR budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to support HR initiatives and operational needs.
  • Maintain HR records and prepare reports as required for senior management and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • PHR/SPHR certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in a higher education or similarly complex organizational setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a high-performing HR team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate organizational goals into HR strategies and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to fostering a positive work environment.
