Job Title: Human Resources Coordinator – Part-time
Job Description: The Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington (POB) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the improvement and preservation of sight by providing services, education, advocacy and innovation. The organization is staffed with enthusiastic, committed individuals who are dedicated to its mission and values. POB is seeking a part-time Human Resources Coordinator to carry out the day-to-day HR functions to meet the needs of the organization. This position requires a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
Job Location: Capitol Hill, 5-minute walk from Union Station, Hybrid Remote
Work schedule: 20 hours per week/ 4 days a week
Hourly rate range: $28 - $30 per hour
Responsibilities:
- Good understanding of full cycle recruiting; assist with the recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding of all new employees and volunteers.
- Community and Internal outreach; working with all departments and community organizations to recruit new employees and volunteers
- Communicate with all department of the organization to identify and coordinate opportunities and needs for volunteers.
- Serve as point of contact for all volunteers
- Assist annual open enrollment elections for all benefits.
- Perform simple accounting tasks and serve as backup for payroll processing
- Keep employee and volunteer records updated.
- Assist with planning and executing annual employee performance reviews.
- Occasional weekend and evening work may be required
- All other duties and projects as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Proven work experience in Human Resources
- Strong customer service skills, including written, verbal, computer skills.
- Basic accounting and Payroll processing skills
- A high degree of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and Google Suite
- QuickBooks Online
- ADP Workforce Now
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
Qualifications:
- US Citizen
- Valid driver’s license in the Metro area (DC, MD, VA)
- High school diploma or higher. Bachelor’s Degree a plus
- 4 or more years of experience in Human Resources
