DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision of the Interventional Radiology Clinic Supervisor and Nurse Manager, the Lead Interventional Scheduler is responsible for oversight of the Interventional Radiology scheduling process with primary focus on operational tasks, scheduling cases, managing the phone queue, and motivating the scheduling team. Takes a lead role to ensure staff is oriented, trained and coached in departmental processes and equipment operations. Duties include staffcoverage, monitor IR phone queue, monitor voicemails, reserve priority fill appointments, and handle escalations from providers, charge nurses and techs within various IR locations (Hillcrest, La Jolla, and East Campus). Responsible and accountable for key activities associated with the Interventional Radiology scheduling systems (EPIC). Serves as a liaisonfor external and internal clinical contacts. Assists in the development and maintenance of training processes and reference materials to enhance skill levels and knowledge of scheduling staff. Leads quality assurance efforts, and assists management in assessing problem areas related to accuracy and procedural deficiencies, and makes recommendations for improvement of workflow processes and uniformity of practices. Provides guidance and support to team members in resolving technical challenges as they arise. Provides feedback to team regarding performance. Contributes to and participates in work organization and scheduling. Maintains a high level of professionalism in communicating with patients, subordinates, peers and physicians. Performs other lead duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Four (4) years of related experience with scheduling imaging exams/procedures through a multi-specialty service in a large, complex hospital setting, with demonstrated experience in a lead and/or trainer capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess the skills, knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
  • Medical terminology training or certificate.
  • Experience and demonstrated expertise with Epic systems.
  • Superb customer service skills and detail oriented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work effectively as a lead in a team environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with UCSD policies and procedures.
  • Experience with Epic Op-Time OR scheduling.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $63,016 - $78,384 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $30.18 - $37.54

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
