Title: Human Resource Manager
Reports To: Executive Director
Supervises: n/a
Status: Full Time, non-exempt, 32-40 hours per week
Salary Range: $19-$22/hr
· A Bachelor's degree in human resources or related area; relevant work experience may be a substitute
· 2+ years (preferred) experience as an HR officer, administrator, or other HR position
· Understanding of labor laws and disciplinary procedures
· Proficient in MS Office
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to create a culture of diversity, equity, inclusivity, collaboration, and teamwork
· Proven ability to coach and guide employees through situations in a sensitive field
· Ability to provide leadership, make sound judgments, and react calmly in a crisis situation
· Experience with analyzing data to guide strategic employment planning
· Skills in mediating disputes, conflicts, and grievances
· A high level of integrity, confidentiality, and fairness
· Flexible schedule with the ability to work some evenings and weekends

· Knowledge of animal welfare issues a plus.
· Assist in performance management processes
· Ensure the organization’s compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
· Review and update employee rules and regulations
· Provide counseling on policies and procedures
· Investigate employee issues or conflicts and bring them to resolution
· Support management with disciplinary issues, grievance issues, and termination
· Support the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems
· Recruit, conduct new hire interviews, and guide new hires through the orientation process
· Review employment and working conditions to ensure legal compliance
· Maintain job descriptions for all departments working with Directors as responsibilities change
· Conduct employee exit interviews and manage offboarding processes
· Maintain employee handbook
· Coordinate employe health benefits in conjunction with the Director of Finance and Administration
· Be familiar with, and able to assist with running payroll in conjunction with the Director of Finance and Administration
· Maintain employee personnel files
· Maintain and organize company OSHA training, compliance, and reporting
· Review, update, and/or assist appropriate staff with creating departmental SOPs and training manuals
· Review, updated, and/or assist appropriate staff with creating departmental training programs
· Through either observation, notification, and/or requests identify areas where either new documents, training, or retraining may be needed and communicate these findings to the appropriate department; identify action steps to determine if training was successful
· Create monthly board report highlighting department updates, changes, and plans
· ADMIN
- Assist in administrative related tasks such as data entry, check entry, donor database entry, and other projects as so warranted.
