Job Description Summary

Lab Aide position in the Biology Labs in the Natural Sciences Department provides a great opportunity to get hands-on experience in a laboratory setting, learn about safety, lab equipment, and making solutions as well as working in a fast paced professional environment.

 

Job Description

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Learn and follow lab safety rules
  • Serve faculty and students with all in-class technical issues
  • Prepare all equipment, solutions and perishables necessary for biology labs
  • Read lab manuals and protocols
  • Learn the experiments that are performed by students to be able to troubleshoot
  • Set up and take down all biology labs on a weekly or biweekly basis
  • Maintain clean environment in classrooms and lab prep areas
  • Lead by example and help train incoming lab aides
  • Assist professors in safety attire/food checks prior to labs
  • Lift and unpack packages
  • Help with operation of instructor computers and projectors
  • Perform duties with professional demeanor and courtesy to all
  • Work as a member of a diverse team
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

Required: Interest in biological sciences. Some work experience in any field. The Educational Aide must be a currently enrolled Santa Fe College student, in good academic and behavioral standing, taking six (6) or more credit hours.   

Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred:  Students who have completed laboratory coursework.
