The Information Technology Education (ITE) prepares students for careers within computer programming, network administration, computer support and other technical occupations in the information technology field. The Information Technology Education Program at Santa Fe College currently offers eight certificate programs, four Associate of Science degrees and one Bachelor of Applied Science degree.  

The Information Technology Education department is seeking an onsite Adjunct Assistant Professor, Programing, Database and Analysis, the Adjunct Assistant Professor prepares and teaches a variety of coursework in information technology, and may include MS Office apps for college computing, database administration, database management, data analysis, applications development, intro to Cloud , project management, as well as other subject areas, depending on applicant's qualifications.

Adjunct Faculty are employed on a term-by-term basis and may be assigned teaching duties at any of the College's campuses housed out of Blount Hall in downtown Gainesville, Florida. Additionally, course offerings may be taught during the day or evening depending on instructor availability, or online, as well as taught using other distance learning formats.  The Adjunct Assistant Professor will be expected to teach a variety of A.S and/or B.S. courses within the ITE program depending on their qualifications and availability.  

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Plan, organize, and deliver information technology education instruction in didactic, laboratory and/or classroom settings to promote student success within a community college setting.
  • Support and promote the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and service.
  • Collaborate with department chair, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum to cultivate the mastery of course content.
  • Provide students with frequent, timely assessment of and clear feedback regarding academic performance.
  • Appropriately document student progress and maintain accurate records such as attendance, grading and achievement of student learning outcomes.
  • Honor student confidentiality and privacy as per appropriate laws, regulations and college rules.
  • Develop methods that fairly and accurately assess students' progress in achieving the stated learning outcomes/objectives.
  • Maintain appropriate office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Director, Information Technology Education (ITE)

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in a qualifying field, or master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in any combination of the qualifying fields (see below), or AA or AS degree with at least 18 semester hours in qualifying field or a related field and 3 to 5 years of progressive work experience in any of the qualifying fields. Alternative academic major related to Information Technology and/or qualifying fields and 3 to 5 years of work-related experience in the field with demonstrated evidence of proficiency. 

Qualifying Fields: Any academic major in Computer Science or Information Technology such as: Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Information Technology, Computer Science & Technology, Information Security, Information Security Management, Information Systems, Information Technology, Programming and Analysis, Security Management, Technology Management. Alternative academic majors: Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Decision & Information Technology, Education in Learning, Educational Technology, Information Assurance, Internet Services, Technology & Communication.

Preferred Qualifications: Mastery of the following:
Software: Visual Studios, Idle, Eclipse, Git or Git Hub or other version control software, Microsoft Project or other Project Management Software
Programming languages: SQL, Python, C based language (java, C, C++, C#)
Cloud: AWS, Azure, or Google
Database: SQL Server Management Systems, MySQL, SQLLite
Misc: Kubernetes, Docker, other Containerization skillset or knowledge 

General Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The Adjunct Assistant must have the ability to deliver a high level of interactive customer service, develop and maintain collaborative relationships throughout the organization, communicate effectively and possess proficient computer skills, including familiarity with the Microsoft Suite of Office Applications. The successful applicant must be willing to work a flexible schedule at multiple sites, as well as demonstrate the ability to work well with students, faculty and staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative environment.
