Job Responsibilities
- Develop a suite of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genetic markers derived from large whole genome resequencing datasets.
- Create and validate new real-time PCR (rtPCR) assays to discriminate closely related locust and grasshopper species that will be rapidly deployable, highly reproducible, and accurate across time and space.
- Analyze data, assist with preparation and presentation of reports and peer-reviewed publications.
- Liaise with key stakeholders and collaborators in both the public and private sectors.
- Provide training and mentorship to graduate students and undergrad research assistants.
- Other duties as required.
Required Education
- PhD in related field.
Preferred Experience:
- Expertise in molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA extractions, PCR and qRT-PCR.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.
