Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide support with implementing, monitoring and improving the College’s employee retention approach. The Specialist with oversee and facilitate orientation of new hire employees and the exit processing of separating employees. Will act as the administrator for the College’s required employee training programs and modules. Will manage and issue all grant-funded employment agreements. Serve as an advisor and consultant to supervisory and staff employees. Assist with all other human resources matters, gathering, collecting, and maintaining documents and records required for contract and policy development, investigations, & negotiations.

This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position and includes a comprehensive benefits package offering medical, dental and vision coverage; generous paid time off; tuition assistance; and retirement savings.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Education
An associate’s degree

 
Required Experience
A minimum of three years of experience within an HR department delivering orientation and/or training.

 
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines and adapt quickly to changing priorities and deadlines with a high sense of urgency
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Thorough knowledge of all federal, state and local laws pertaining to employment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

 


Preferred Qualifications
  • HRCi and/or SHRM certification
  • Experience developing trainings is a plus
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner is a plus
  • Experience utilizing PowerPoint, Forms, Teams &/or SharePoint
  • Excellent negotiation, and conflict resolution skills

 

 
Hours per Week : 40 - 100%

General Weekly Work Schedule
Monday to Friday, generally 9 a.m.- 5.pm.
