Summary of Position

The InterOperability lab is a commercially funded independent testing facility for networking and data communications devices and software. The IOL Operator supports the development and execution of testing services and/or hardware/software testing tools used by our approximately 200 global business partners https://www.iol.unh.edu/membership/members. The position will assist in managing vendor relations; assist in conformance test execution, reporting and result review; serve as a lead developer and/or project manager in order to improve current services in conformance test teams including but not limited to 1588 and TSN related areas. Development will focus on ongoing BitPhyer and Violett software needs as used for conformance testing.

Duty/Responsibility

Testing and Training
Overview: Support the technical requirements, setup, maintenance and operation of the test services along with future test offerings. Assist with training and mentoring new employees on test service offerings.
Decision Making: Position will assist in making decisions.

Example:
  1. Support technical work within the Avnu, 1588 and Conformance Testing areas.
  2. Execute testing, reporting, report review, and troubleshooting as assigned.
  3. Train and mentor employees as assigned.

Duty/Responsibility

Software Development
Overview: Support the technical development of tooling used to speed conformance testing.

Decision Making: Position will assist in making decisions.
Example:
  1. Support Violett tool releases (APL, Avnu, PTP).
  2. Support new developers assisting with the development and maintenance of the tools.

Duty/Responsibility

Customer Service – Client Relationship Management
Overview: Work with customers during the testing process to resolve issues. Support customers using UNH-IOL tools or services.

Decision Making: Position will assist in making decisions.
Example:
  1. Work directly with customers during a reservation to ensure that testing and reporting are properly completed.
  2. Help support Violett and Bitphyer users and customers.

Overview: Supervise students as assigned.

Example:
  1. Supervise students as assigned.

Duty/Responsibility

Documentation & Planning
Overview:
Assist with documentation for test tools and test plans as assigned. Suggest and implement improvement SOPs and quality documentation. Participate in strategic planning processes.
Decision Making: Position will assist in making decisions.

Example:
  1. Update test plans and tester’s guides as assigned.
  2. Provide input into the annual Embase Industry strategic plan.
