Job Title- PROGRAM DIRECTOR-ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING

Position Status- Full Time

Classification Title- Administration-12 m

Work Location- Main Campus-3600 N. Garfield, Midland, TX

Job Summary

The position involves coordinating and ensuring the quality of the Associate Degree Nursing program, leading to successful program and student outcomes. The role includes providing guidance and support for students, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, overseeing faculty, managing curriculum and departmental budgets. Additionally, the individual will engage with the community, participate in official college events, and foster positive public relations to promote the philosophy of Midland College. Teaching assignments are commensurate with Texas Board of Nursing limitations of no more than 3 clock hours per week.

Required Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.); or
  • If you hold a Master’s degree in a non-nursing field, you are required to have:
      • Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program and;
      • At least six semester hours of relevant graduate-level nursing coursework

     

  • Have or be able to obtain an unencumbered Registered Nurse license to practice in Texas and maintain it throughout employment
  • At least three years of teaching experience in a professional nursing education program
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities in nursing education program administration
  • Knowledgeable about curriculum development, student assessments, and measuring student learning outcomes
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • Proficiency in English
  • Must be computer literate, including knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, have a good driving record, and be insurable under Midland College’s insurance policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral Degree
  • Familiarity with student and academic support services
  • Experience with clinical simulation
  • Familiarity with requirements of approval and accrediting agencies
  • Knowledge and understanding of program and course assessment, including measuring student learning outcomes

Essential Functions

Educational Program Management
    • Coordinate and ensure the quality and relevance of educational programs
    • Develop, implement, and assess the curriculum
    • Oversee ADN program assessment to meet college accreditation requirements
    • Stay informed about trends and innovations in nursing and education
    • Continuously improve instruction quality by evaluating and applying effective teaching methodologies
    • Maintain academic and program records as required, ensuring timely documentation submission
    • Manage schedules with clinical agencies

 

Faculty and Staff Coordination
  • Participate in selecting, orienting, and evaluating faculty and clinical preceptors
  • Guide faculty in developing, implementing, and enforcing standards and policies
  • Support faculty recruitment and training efforts
  • Hold regular ADN faculty meetings and maintain accurate minutes
  • Assist faculty in creating a well-managed learning environment across all instructional settings
  • Collaborate with faculty to recommend textbooks and instructional materials
  • Manage course schedule development
Student Support and Advisement
  • Assist with educational guidance and counseling for students
  • Serve as the first point of contact for student and faculty concerns
  • Engage in student recruitment and advising
  • Collaborate with faculty to identify at-risk students and implement early interventions for their success
Compliance and Reporting
  • Understand ACEN standards and lead accreditation efforts
  • Collaborate with the Dean of Health Sciences and faculty to ensure compliance with the Texas Board of Nursing, ACEN, and local agencies
  • Adhere to Texas Board of Nursing standards to maintain program approval
  • Prepare and submit timely annual and periodic reports to the Texas Board of Nursing
  • Ensure compliance with regulations governing clinical preceptors and teaching assistants
Budget and Resource Management
  • Contribute to ADN budget planning, implementation, and purchasing, ensuring fiscal responsibility for all funds, including grants
  • Identify and request necessary instructional resources
Community and Public Relations
  • Advocate for the philosophy of Midland College among faculty, students, and the community
  • Establish and maintain positive public relations with relevant community and healthcare organizations
  • Organize and conduct biannual advisory committee meetings, ensuring minutes are recorded and filed
  • Contribute to the college and community through chosen service activities
Event Participation
  • Participate in graduation ceremonies and official college events
  • Plan and execute nursing pinning ceremonies.
  • Attend applicable training with the Texas Board of Nursing and any other pertinent organizations
Additional Responsibilities
  • Supervise the health sciences computer lab and attendant; participate in their annual evaluation
  • Collaborate with faculty and simulation center staff to coordinate the use of the simulation center
  • Perform other assigned duties

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Occasionally move or drive to other locations on and off campus, including clinical sites
  • Occasionally travel for training, meetings, and events both in and out of town
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
  • Use of manual dexterity
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information promptly
  • Frequently lifts or moves equipment needed in teaching and directing students in the laboratory and clinical areas weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Duties indoors and some outdoors
  • Clinical setting may have common related bodily fluids present
  • Able to ambulate to supervise students in the clinical area
  • Ability to work extended hours and attend Midland College or community events
  • Ability to work with supplies and simulation medical equipment throughout the SimLife Center

Security Sensitivity- All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. An employment offer is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal background investigation.

Min Salary- $85,000 (annualized salary)

Max Salary- $100,000 (annualized salary)

Pay Statement- Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
