Job Profile Summary

Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, conducts risk-based internal audits for the accounting department. Audits may include audits of grants and subcontractors, the 340b program, various organization business lines and programs, clinic cash receipts and collections and the analysis and reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts.

General Job Description

Accountant II, Internal Audit is responsible for conducting a range of internal audits within the organization's accounting department under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal controls. The audits may include but are not limited to grants, contracts, subcontractors, the 340b program, payroll, accounts receivable, and various organizational business lines and programs. The individual is expected to review financial processes, perform reconciliation of accounts, analyze financial data, and assist in inventory audits. Additionally, the role requires preparing detailed audit reports for leadership, identifying discrepancies, and recommending improvements to enhance financial processes and safeguard assets. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of internal auditing procedures, and a commitment to upholding regulatory standards and company policies.

Job Roles

*Assists in physical inventory of equipment and annual physical count of warehouse inventory.

*Audits grants, contracts and subcontractors and ensures compliance with regulations and grant requirements.

*Conducts a variety of audits to ensure compliance with departmental, grants, state and federal rules and regulations, including (but not limited to) the 340b program, payroll, vendor invoices, grant programs, accounts receivable, etc.

*Conducts audit, review and surprise counts of clinic receipts, petty cash and change funds.

*Creates and presents a variety of reports, documents and other written materials to leadership regarding audits, audit results, and other materials.

*Maintains prepaid expense schedules and prepares journal entries.

*Prepares schedules, reconciliation and analysis of assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts.

*Prepares site analysis during month-end closing process to identify errors, misstatements or unrecorded transactions and initiates prompt and proper correction.

*Responsible for the recording and accounting of assigned programs, including the Residency program, new market tax credit transactions, and others.

*Reviews internal processes and controls for the purposes of ensuring financial information is properly processed, reported and safeguarded.

*Transmits payroll and AP check positive pay reporting; resolves positive pay exceptions.

*Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations

* 4 years' experience as an accountant with internal audit responsibilities.

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.

* Experience as an internal auditor/accountant in a health care environment is preferred.

* Ability to facilitate management and employee understanding of payroll procedures; ability to conduct/facilitate formal and informal workshops, training, and other educational venues.

* Computer proficiency: Word, Excel.

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

* Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, time-management skills, and strong motivation to meet deadlines and achieve goals.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills coupled with the ability to think strategically.

* Thorough knowledge of accounting regulations, procedures, policies and practices.

* Thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

* Thorough knowledge of internal audit procedures, policies and practices.

If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
