Pharmacist Intern - Outpatient Pharmacy - 132049

Job Description

DESCRIPTION

The Intern pharmacist will assist the pharmacist with patient counseling, transferring prescriptions, assessing patient therapeutic discharge plan, and supporting the Med to Bed program by providing medication delivery and counseling at patient bedside. Will perform a full range of duties in a specialized functional area and able to perform all general tasks in all areas of the pharmacy.

Assists the pharmacist in the preparation of medications for patient use (oral and parenteral) according to established procedures; assist in the distribution of medications; performs computer order entry, record keeping, and billing functions; maintain inventory levels; and perform other duties as assigned. Will perform assigned operational duties in a scheduled area and will assist pharmacists in completing medication orders and related distribution duties in the assigned areas.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • California Board of Pharmacy Intern Pharmacist License.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service and counseling skills,ability to operate computer systems.

  • Proven teaching skills and writing skills, which can be applied to article publication in hospital newsletter and professional journal.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Less than 6 months experience.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $57,211 - $93,751 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $27.40 - $44.90

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
