The Biopesticide Regulatory Manager is primarily responsible for helping with IR-4’s efforts to develop new technologies involving biochemical, microbial and biotechnology related products for pest management. This is accomplished by providing assistance in EPA registration.
This position provides technical expertise and management of assigned regulatory projects, and ensures that projects are conducted as planned. The incumbent communicates and cooperates with numerous individuals to maintain involvement in all facets of the program, and provides substantial input to project-related decisions, usually in a leadership role. This position is accountable for major project outputs, metrics, and stakeholder satisfaction and demonstrates leadership in forming and maintaining productive working relationships. The incumbent works closely with IR-4 professional staff, motivates groups to implement organizational strategies, and develop tactical priorities; and represents the organization and/or the university at seminars and conferences. The Biopesticide Regulatory Manager develops cutting-edge advanced protocols is recognized as a subject matter expert, and acts as a consultant to peers and faculty within and outside of the unit. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

- Provide leadership for the overall program and consultant for others in IR-4 on the formation of Biopesticide regulatory packages for submission to EPA so that at least 3 new submissions or amendments are completed and at least 1 new active ingredient or amendment is approved each year. (40%)
- Interact with university, USDA and some small business to explain the IR-4 Biopesticide Regulatory assistance program, and screen potential new projects. Hold at least 3 pre-registration meetings with EPA each year. (10%)
- Attend professional meetings, publicize the program and recruit new projects. (10%)

Minimum Experience/Education
- Ph.D degree in entomology, plant pathology, weed science or related fields and 15 years’ experience with managing research programs in crop protection sciences
Department Required Skills
- In-depth understanding of the biopesticide industry business as well as knowledge of industry and competitive trends
- Strong business skills in planning, organizing, information integration, decision-making, and attaining results
- Knowledge in Good Laboratory Practice regulations with documented recent training records that demonstrate basic capability of conducting and providing oversight to regulatory research.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
- Ability to navigate the IR-4 custom developed biopesticide regulatory support database
- Ability to work well in both a team and independently in a fast paced environment
