Research Program Coordinator
Job Description
The Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine is seeking a Research Program Coordinator to primarily be responsible for the enrollment of older adults into aging and frailty-related clinical studies sponsored by the Older Americans Independence Center and the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology. The Coordinator will implement research protocols by recruiting and consenting study eligible patients into studies, adhering to the IRB approved study designs and activities, and following study specific timelines. The Coordinator will be actively involved in the administration of research studies for multiple investigators as part of a team. The position will be responsible for tasks required to update the aging / frailty registry and to support several clinical studies.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Recruit and enroll eligible participants into clinical protocols.
- Maintain good working knowledge of all assigned protocols and reporting requirements.
- Work on clinical studies which require a high level of knowledge, coordination, and maintain regulatory binders for each assigned protocol.
- Prepare and submit annual renewal requests, amendments, and adverse event reports with clinical input according to IRB and sponsor requirements.
- Adhere to all protocol requirements to ensure the validity of the clinical research data.
- Assist principal investigator and/or program manager in defining information and plans required to accomplish goals of studies.
- Assist in the design and creation of protocol specific case report forms.
- Prepare reports on individual patients or the study as required by the principal investigators and/or external agencies.
- Enter patient demographic and clinical data into institutional database systems and respond in a timely manner to special projects or queries related to the data.
- Perform home visits as necessary and perform phlebotomy as part of study protocols.
- Follow study procedures for clinical and home visits and handle related procedures e.g. participant recruitment and enrollment, scheduling, data forms, mailings, phone interviewer schedules, explain study procedures to prospective participants, speak with participants from previous studies, contact potential subjects by letter or phone, conduct baseline and follow-up interviews and questionnaires, work with the database manager on entry of collected data, and other related project tasks.
- Perform phlebotomy for protocols that require blood samples from participants.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation to conduct home or other off-site study visits.
- Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Phlebotomy experience or willing to be trained.
- Proficiency in the use of software applications for databases (e.g., REDCap), spreadsheets, and word processing.

Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $30.30 HRLY ($48,000 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
