Associate Dean of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) - Massasoit Community College
Job Description
The Associate Dean for Emergency Medical Services is responsible for all aspects of the EMT and Paramedic programs including curriculum development, planning, administration, continuous review and maintenance of program accreditation, and assessment of the general effectiveness of the programs. Additionally, the Associate Dean for EMS serves as the liaison with health care facilities, provides systematic review of program effectiveness among didactic, laboratory, and clinical components and works effectively and collaboratively with students, staff, faculty, administrators, and community partners.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Serves as the EMS Program Director for CAAHEP / CoAEMSP and other licensing and accrediting bodies
- Demonstrates commitment to the community college mission, diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Demonstrates awareness of current trends in higher education and community colleges, especially those related to academic programming, pedagogy, assessment, student success, and technology.
- Strong team and relationship building skills.

- Ability to analyze data and make sound recommendations and offer viable solutions about complex management and administrative issues.

- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.

- Attend professional conferences and training as needed.
- Must be able to travel to clinical and field sites.
- Be available to work on all campuses.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in related field
- Appropriate medical or allied health education, training, and experience,
- Documented education and experience in instructional methodology
- Knowledgeable about methods of instruction, testing and evaluation of students,
- Have field experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care,
- Have academic training and preparation related to emergency medical services at least equivalent to that of a paramedic,
- Knowledgeable about the current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS standards, and evidence-informed clinical practice.
Preferred qualifications:
- Certification as a Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP)
- Minimum of seven years' experience or equivalent as a licensed Paramedic that includes a minimum of five years of field experience in emergency care.
- Must have experience with, and working knowledge of the EMS system
- Certifications in: BCLS, ACLS, PALS (Provider/Instructor)
- Current Paramedic Certification/Licensure
- Massachusetts (or Equivalent) Emergency Medical Technician Instructor/Coordinator
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in related field.
- Degree in health-related profession, EMS, or education
- Prior administrative and supervisory experience
- Experience with program accreditation
- Higher education experience as an instructor or administrator
Additional Information:
Position Status: Non-Unit Professional, full time, state funded with benefits.
Hours: 37.5 hours a week
Salary: $90,627 - $117,815 (annually) commensurate with education and experience
Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites and additional locations as necessary.
