Student Financial Services Analyst
Job Description
Anticipated Hiring Hourly Range: $19.00-$22.50 per hour
Student Financial Services provides student-centered assistance by working under Federal, State, and University guidance to enable students to enroll, manage their finances, achieve their academic goals, and graduate in a timely manner. The Student Financial Services Analyst performs the regular tasks associated with back-end processing, especially as they relate to loan processing. The Student Financial Services Analyst will be responsible for the oversight of Fresno Pacific University’s loan processing with including Federal, PLUS and alternative, loan reconciliation (working with Federal systems such as COD and CPS), and other back-end processes (including system setup and maintenance). Strong communication and time management skills, professionalism, adherence to student privacy, and the ability to work cohesively within a team in a fast-paced environment are crucial.

Duties:
- Assist the SFS Advisor with tasks related to student loan eligibility
- Process and monitor alternative and PLUS loans
- Maintain regular communication with SFS Advisor as it pertains to student awards
- Participate and contribute in staff meetings
- Maintain confidentiality with sensitive student information, always working within the right to privacy guidelines, and in observance of the Family Education and Rights Protection Act (FERPA).
- Collaborate with other departments and staff on campus or at our Regional Centers as needed, with a high level of professionalism
- Troubleshoot account issues as they arise, provide follow up to the SFS Advisor
- Work independently and within a team, make sound business decisions, use acute attention to detail, and manage multiple and competing demands in a fast-paced office environment
- Run, monitor, and process students who fall into the Satisfactory Academic Progress categories of Probation and Disqualification
- Oversee withdrawals from the university from the financial side, including R2T4 processing, student drops for non-attendance, and communication with third parties
- Occasionally assist other team members with larger projects during peak seasons
- Assist in state and institutional aid reconciliations, keeping audit details in order for adjustments
- Process once-a-year reports and documents distribution, including 1098-T and 1042-S processing
- Assist with yearly system maintenance, including report adjustments
- Other job duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma
- One year of experience in financial aid
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience in Microsoft Suite Software
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Customer service orientation and the ability to communicate effectively
- Demonstrated experience in leadership with demonstrated capacity to think strategically
- Team player with ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to learn new technology
- Demonstrate organizational capabilities, detail oriented and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to interact with people in a warm, professional manner
- Willingness to work a non-traditional, flexible schedule and attend regional and national trainings.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
- Bilingual
- Technical experience using database systems such as Colleague, PeopleSoft or similar administrative systems
- One year experience with Colleague/Datatel
- Experience in Christian college or university
- Experience with alternative loan processing, especially with systems such as ELM
Environmental Conditions:
- Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes at least eighty percent (80%) of the time.
- Frequent computer use at a workstation, up to eight hours per day.
- Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
- Drive personal or University vehicles to appointments.
- Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming.
Physical Demands:
- This position typically functions indoors in an office environment with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment. The position may involve travel for meetings and events.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: remain in a stationary position 80 % of the time, be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets/office machinery etc., operate a computer and keyboard and other office productivity machinery such as calculators/copy machines/printers. The employee is occasionally required to position self to reach items on the floor and in high cabinetry.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employee must be able to communicate with others to exchange information including both over the telephone and in-person communication with callers and community members and be able to read a computer screen and paper documents.
