Recreational Sports Specialist - NE College

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Recreational Sports Specialist who will advance the institution’s proud tradition of excellence in academics, student life and community service.

Your mission: You’ll provide business operations support and coordination of a comprehensive recreational sports program.

The program: The mission of The Recreational Sports and Fitness Program is to enhance the mind, body, and spirit of students and other eligible individuals by providing programs, services, and facilities that are responsive to the physical, social, recreational, and lifelong educational needs of the campus community as they relate to health, fitness, and learning.

A typical day:
You’ll have a wide range of different types of activities each day. You might be working on creating a new sport program in the morning, and by afternoon you’re supervising a sport club event. On another day, you might be collaborating with marketing to publicize club teams or you could be recruiting players. Variety will be the name of the game.

Job Summary
Under the direction of the Program Director of Recreational Sports and Student Activities, the Recreational Sports Specialist will provide administrative support and coordination of a comprehensive recreational sports program.

Essential Function

Create, develop, and implement new sport programs.

Organize, oversee, and evaluate existing sport programs.

Develop, coordinate, and evaluate methods for promoting and publicizing club teams through the design of calendars, flyers, posters, etc. (Assist in marketing and promotion of club teams).

Coordinate facility scheduling and reservations for recreational sport activities.

Maintain daily business operations including maintaining files, securing facilities, registering teams, ongoing evaluation of student-athlete eligibility, budget, travel, etc.

Provide on-site supervision for sport club events.

Maintain program operation manual and ensure adherence to all policies (District and State) associated with all sport club program.

Recruit players, coaches, interns; provide ongoing feedback to coaches and interns.

May work a flexible schedule and travel to different locations, frequent evenings and weekends, depending on scheduled events.

Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration, Physical Education, Sports Management, Recreation, Business or related field is required

• 1 year experience working with Recreational Sports/Student Activities required

Working Conditions

General office. May frequently be required to walk; stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer, photocopier, file cabinets, and calculator. Manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, ability to reach and bend, and use 2-step stool while safely lifting and lowering boxes. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
