DESCRIPTION

As the Facilities Manager for assigned location, this leader will manage and lead all utilities, energy management programs and special projects assigned to Medical Center locations. Will oversee and mentor Supervisors and work with them on managing budget processes for assigned cost centers. Participate in departmental and hospital committees.

The Manager will work with the Director of Facilities to develop strategies and implement plans for improving distribution systems, energy conservation, equipment replacement and installation, as well as long-term energy planning. Plan, organize, manage and coordinate staff for day-to-day facilities maintenance and operations. The incumbent will manage building, environment, utilities services, distribution, maintenance and repair. Will work with Supervisors regarding corrective and PM work between trades. Will be responsible to oversee and monitor schedules, maintain labor and material records. Coordinated in-house work with outside contractors. Coordinate compliance with TJC, CDPH, OSHA and EPA policies and regulations. The Manager will oversee and approve contracts, purchase orders and composed specifications and estimates as required. Will monitor internal workflow. Complete personnel and staffing evaluations, work with Supervisors on disciplinary actions and recruitments.

The Manager will represent the Director with various staff, leaders and managers, outside vendors, university and governmental agencies as required. May act as Director in his/her absence. Oversee the commissioning and compliance aspects of the facilities engineering department including tracking, change control and work order management. Manage all functions of the Facilities Engineering departments at assigned medical center and remote sites.

Key Responsibilities:
- Works with the organization occupancy and facilities building project planners to coordinate the planning, design, and implementation of general and specialized facilities, new buildings, and modifications (general or specialty labs).
- Ensures the organization occupancy needs are met. Ensures project requirements are defined, building management contract and contract changes are negotiated, operating budgets established and the financial terms and conditions of the contract are identified.
- Monitors adherence to master plans, budgets and schedules. Identifies problems and develops solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing project scope.
- Establishes and oversees health and safety standards. Selects, develops and evaluates staff. Ensures all systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection, meet University and organization standards.
- Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 11 years of related experience in Facilities Engineering, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus seven (7) years of related experience/training.

  • Experience and proven success to facilitate and collaborate with various internal and external constituencies on short and long term facilities planning and management.

  • Strong skills in leadership, motivation of staff and team-building.

  • Strong skills in management, regulatory compliance and operations planning.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three or more years of Facilities Engineering experience in a large, acute care hospital.
  • Supervisor or manager-level experience in Health Facilities Management.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $104,900 - $198,900 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $50.24 - $95.26

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
