Job Summary
The Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, Department of Pediatrics at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital at the University of Michigan is recruiting a new faculty member entering at any academic rank who is an excellent and enthusiastic clinician and clinical educator. Responsibilities will include active participation in interprofessional Newborn ICU Quality Improvement and protocol development, and in the education of residents, fellows, neonatal advanced practice providers. Faculty also work collaboratively with faculty at UMHS-Sparrow hospital and Trinity Health Oakland hospital and interact with Neonatologists throughout the state and region.
C.S. Mott Children's Hospital is ranked first in the state by USNWR, third in the region, and is nationally ranked in all ten specialties, including Neonatology. The Brandon Newborn Intensive Care Unit, a 58-bed single patient room Level 4 NICU, within the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital, an integral part of Michigan Medicine's main medical campus in Ann Arbor (4900 deliveries, 900 admissions annually, 70% inborn). Faculty round on three NICU clinical teams daily for all patients including those receiving ECMO support. An additional fourth attending Neonatologist manages deliveries, transports while a fifth attending directs inpatient and outpatient antenatal consultations. Neonatologists, collaborate closely with the Congenital Heart Center, remotely supervise APPs or fellows on medical transports in a large geographic catchment area, attend high risk deliveries, participate in prenatal consultation and care coordination in collaboration with maternal-fetal medicine, palliative care, and pediatric and surgical subspecialists in the Fetal Diagnostic Center, which offers advanced fetal procedures and fetal surgery. Attending neonatologist call is in-house. Our Division and Department offer opportunities to participate in clinical, translational, bioethics, health services, global health, bench, and educational research. Faculty have the opportunity to work with University of Michigan Medical Students, Pediatric Residents (and Medicine-Pediatrics, Neurology, and Genetics), Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellows, and Neonatal Nurse Practitioner students. The Brandon Transport team provides ground, helicopter, and fixed wing transport.
Required Qualifications*
Applicants must hold an MD or DO degree and be board-certified or board-eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine by the position start date.
