Purpose
The Corporate Services/Lifelong Learning Coordinator primary purpose is to coordinate the day-to-day programmatic elements of various training courses and programs within the Corporate Services-Lifelong Learning Department. This position is responsible for the administration of classes or instructional events of corporate training and lifelong learning programs. This includes needs assessment, curriculum design, instructor/trainer recruitment, registration management, customer service, course/event logistics, sales/presentations, significant oral and written communication skills and financial success of the course/event/program; ensuring net revenue generation annually.
Additionally, the purpose of this job is to develop partnerships, implement plans, career pathways programs, and to ensure that training solutions are managed and delivered to:
- Be fiscally responsive to generate a net income in both non-credit and credit consistent with college goals and objectives.
- Promote non-credit and credit enrollment growth at the College by empowering individuals through the delivery of training initiatives and new technologies.
- Administer programs and projects pertaining to Corporate Services, Workforce, Career, Community, and Economic Development.
- Build Mott’s visibility both internally and externally within the region.
- Establish local, regional, state linkages to promote the college’s position as a leading institution in the field of Corporate and Customized Training, and Lifelong Learning courses.
Scope
The Corporate Services and Lifelong Learning Coordinator position is in the division of Workforce & Economic Development (WED), but specifically reports to the Director, Corporate Services-Lifelong Learning, and serves as the primary contact in the Lifelong Learning Department. As such, this position coordinates all Lifelong Learning, Personal Enrichment, Hobby/Craft, and CEU activities throughout the college’s service delivery area which includes, but is not limited to Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, and Shiawassee Counties.

Dimension
- This position requires travel to companies, agencies, and satellite campuses throughout the college service areas; including but not limited to, Genesee, Shiawassee, Lapeer, and Livingston counties.
- Coordinate all Lifelong Learning, Personal Enrichment, Hobby/Craft, and CEU activities through the college service area which includes, but is not limited to Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, and Shiawassee counties.
- Works with MCC departments as first priority in setting up and delivering training curriculum.
- Maintain and uphold professional standards in all segments of the operation.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings, as needed.
- Increase the number and type of Lifelong Learning courses and activities, and referrals to credit programs.
Supervisory Responsibility
The person in this position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may serve as a formal work group leader for assigned staff, contracted instructors, consultants, and students.

Unique Aspects of the Job:
- Significant travel – may coordinate programs at multiple sites throughout the college services area.
- This position may be terminated at any time if performance measures are not being adequately met, or if funding is eliminated.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of at least five years of progressively responsible experience in education/training, marketing, sales, administrative or business management
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Strong customer service skills to effectively address the needs of diverse students, customers, faculty, staff and the general public
- Must possess good organizational skills and be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrated work history of providing high quality, strong customer-centered services including problem solving; strong listening skills, coordination of work effort with team members; conflict resolution; and ability to put student/customer before self.
- Ability to work with accuracy with minimum supervision.
- Willing to take accountability for and ownership of work, job and office operations; dependable and reliable.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing work situations that may include evening and weekend work assignments, and local/regional travel.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality on all information regarding student, staff, and faculty communications and personal information.
- Ability to appropriately use and demonstrate proficiency at the Basic level of MS Word and Excel.
- Demonstrated experience in providing ingenuity, imagination and collaboration to achieve goals.
- Must currently possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver’s license
Additional Desirable Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in education, business, marketing, communications, public administration or closely related field.
- Two years of professional work experience in a higher educational institution having direct contact with students.
- Experience with corporate services, lifelong learning and/or workforce development training and programs and/or certifications (CWDP, CDF, GCDF, BSP, CBSP).
- Data Management & Reporting software experience such as MS Access, Lumens, ETO and/or Cognos.
- Professional affiliations and contact with area businesses, local agencies and government entities.
- Marketing, sales or advertising experience
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Must be able to work at a desk for long periods of time and operate a computer workstation and telephone.
- Must be able to communicate both in person and over the telephone with a variety of people each day.
- Occasionally carries and moves light loads up to (25 lbs.)
- The minimum reasoning skills necessary for this position include the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardization does not exist.
Work Schedule
In addition to regular business hours, the person in this position must be able to be flexible around the needs of the department, which includes evening and/or weekend hours.
