As a Storage & Virtualization Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining multiple storage and virtual environments within a classified computing environment alongside a team of skilled Systems Administrators. Responsibilities of this position will be inclusive of, but not limited to, the overall management and administration of various VMware technologies, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technologies (Omnissa Horizon), various storage technologies (Dell/EMC, NetApp, Rubrik, etc.) as well as DoD STIG implementation and management.

 

As a Storage and Virtualization Systems Administrator you will...

  • Virtual Environment Administration:
    • Installation, Configuration, Maintenance of ESXi/vSphere, vCenter
    • Administration of VMware Horizon and Citrix Virtual Applications & Desktops
    • DoD/DISA STIG Implementation/Maintenance
    • Operational support of various VMware technologies including vSAN/iSCSI/NFS, vSphere Distributed Switch, vRealize Log Insight, vRealize Operations, etc.
    • Collaborate with System Administrative, Information System Security Teams, and End Users with a range of diverse projects being implemented on small, medium, and large disconnected networks
    • Recomposing virtual desktop environments (VDI)
    • Assist with identifying and remediating vulnerabilities by way of patching and/or modifying configurations
    • Documentation of processes and procedures
    • Analysis and documentation of simple to complex system issues and help to develop enterprise
    • Backup/Restore/Replicate virtual environments
  • Windows Administration:
    • Enforce Group Policy configuration changes for windows security compliance
    • Active Directory Administration
    • Microsoft Windows Exchange Server Administration
    • DHCP configuration/administration/troubleshooting
    • Microsoft SQL Administration
    • Apply Windows patches regularly for stability and security
  • Network Administration:
    • Configuration & administration of Cisco switches
    • Management of Cisco Firewalls
  • Storage Administration:
    • Administration of Dell/EMC storage (Unity/Isilon/PowerScale)
  • Assist in other duties, as needed, within the System Administration space, to include driving Laboratory vehicles as needed.  

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you have...

  • Experience securing systems to DoD standards;
  • Experience with ESXi/vSphere & vCenter Server Appliance (vCSA) management;
  • A bachelor's degree in IT or another relevant technical field, or equivalent years of technical experience;
  • Experience in VMware Horizon implementation & management;
  • Experience with vSphere Distributed Switch & vSAN technologies;
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems related to OS, hardware, network, etc.
  • Are able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you have...

  • Experience with automation capabilities;
  • Experience with virtual Graphics Processing Unit (vGPU);
  • Experience with vSphere CLI and PowerCLI;
  • Experience with Dell/EMC storage platforms (Isilon/PowerScale, Unity, IDPA, etc.)
  • Advanced experience with VMware vRealize Suite of toolsets
  • Experience with MFA Administration
  • Experience with different VPN clients
  • Helpdesk ticketing systems (Jira/Confluence/Service-now)

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.


Minimum Rate

$90,000 Annually

Maximum Rate

$220,000 Annually
