Internship - Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

Introduction:

As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will work with the Manufacturing Engineering team to assist in the implementation of continuous improvement projects that support DUV manufacturing. This individual will work with electrical, mechanical, and optical assemblies in the production environment. This position will also aid in the maintenance of assembly work instructions and production, and/or quality data acquisition and analysis.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Supports Manufacturing Engineering with project work.
  • Prepares, analyzes and reports factory metrics.
  • Perform process time studies.
  • Create or update assembly and test work instructions.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements.
  • Participate as a member of cross-functional teams.
  • Investigate problems and recommend/analyze possible solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver reports on work progress.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • This will NOT be limited to a desk. Hands-on work in the factory will be required.

Education and Experience

  • Must be pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Knowledge or experience reading drawings, creating work instructions, and the use of statistics for engineering applications.
  • Familiar with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, 8D, FMEA, and 5 Why's analysis.
  • Familiarity with Bill of Materials (BOM) structures
  • Ability to work in cleanroom manufacturing environment.
  • Must be comfortable with a rapidly changing work environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Customer service focus
  • Hands on, multitasking, priority setting and risk management.
  • Team focused but individually accountable.
  • Proficient use of all Microsoft Office suite programs
  • Experience or familiar with using statistical software (JMP, Minitab, other.)
  • Knowledge of MES
