Overview
CAES' Software Test Engineering group has a career growth opportunity available for a SOFTWARE ENGINEER. In this position you will design, develop, deploy, and maintain custom software solutions in a manufacturing environment. Applications range from single user applications to large multi-user applications and everything in between. This position plays a critical role in our site's success. This role is in San Diego, CA and there is no relocation available.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES:
- Responsible for creating and maintaining test automation software for Radio Frequency (RF)/Microwave devices and systems.
- Support prototype design activities by developing applications for test interfaces.
- Create intuitive user interfaces to minimize multilingual operator errors and training.
- Design, code, integrate, test and maintain test modules for NI TestStand using LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or C/C++.
- Coordinate software development, integration and test validation activities between engineering and production.
- Control test equipment using standard SCPI commands.
- Interface with databases to store and analyze production test data.
- Contribute in reviews to ensure developed software meets specifications and deliverables are consistent with requirements.
- Document software designs and design changes.
- Submit and process change orders (ECOs) in company Product Life Management (PLM) system.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or other related technical field.
- 5+ years of software development experience.
- 4+ years of demonstrated ability to code and debug moderately complex software in multiple languages (C, C++, Python, etc.).
- This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export law. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Preferred:
- 8+ years of software development experience.
- Experience developing test modules for National Instruments TestStand using LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI or C/C++.
- Established ability to develop well-designed, efficient and testable software using best practices and coding standards.
- Experience with one or more configuration tools like Subversion or Git.
- Experience working with RF devices
- Knowledge and integration experience with hardware and test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, waveform generators and network analyzers.
- Familiarity querying and designing with one or more database technologies (MySQL, SQL, Oracle, Postgres ...)
- Development experience in the Defense industry.
- Active Security clearance
Salary Range: $108,134 - $205,573 annually (San Diego).
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base bay. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
