The HR Generalist III position at the University of Florida’s College of Medicine, Student Health Care Center (SHCC), is vital for managing HR functions in a complex healthcare environment. The HR Generalist III oversees personnel management, supervises HR staff, and ensures compliance with policies and procedures. This position involves collaboration with SHCC leadership, the Department of Community Health and Family Medicine (CHFM), and UFHR representatives to maintain high standards in HR service delivery.
Personnel Management and Administration:
- Maintain SHCC HR tracking logs, organizational charts, and personnel files.
- Develop and update HR standards of practice and resource documents.
- Oversee position updates, including reclassifications, pay increases, and FTE changes.
- Manage employee separations, leave cash-outs, and offboarding processes.
- Review, process, and oversee electronic personnel transactions (ePAFs).
- Manage payroll activities, including exception corrections, leave entry oversight, time approval, and verification of compensation entries.
- Ensure compliance with university policies and serve as a resource for personnel and HR-related issues.
- Oversee immigration paperwork for the hiring and retention of immigrant employees.
- Manage recruitment approvals and assist hiring managers in writing job descriptions.
- Facilitate the hiring process, including license renewals and onboarding coordination.
Supervision:
- Supervise SHCC HR staff, providing guidance, cross-training, and empowerment.
- Ensure adherence to departmental norms, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee all HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, termination processes, and payroll.
- Hold regular meetings with HR staff to manage workload and ensure timely completion of projects.
- Act as a liaison between SHCC and CHFM leadership to align priorities and expectations.
Credentialing and Access Management:
- Manage credentialing processes in collaboration with the Credentialing Office.
- Serve as SHCC’s Department Security Administrator (DSA), handling security role assignments, required training, and annual recertifications.
- Oversee access to SHCC shared resources and terminate access when necessary.
Administrative and Employee Relations Management:
- Address employee relations issues, liaising between supervisors, leadership, and UFHR.
- Advise faculty, staff, and administrators on university policies and procedures.
- Develop onboarding tools and training for SHCC administrators and supervisors.
- Communicate critical HR-related updates to all SHCC employees, ensuring timely dissemination of information.
- Manage SHCC HR shared resources and provide administrative support as needed.
This role is crucial to maintaining efficient and compliant HR operations at SHCC, fostering a supportive environment for employees and leadership.

The starting salary range is $70,000 - $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of University of Florida policies, procedures, and systems, including Personnel/Payroll and PeopleSoft.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to utilize online resources effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to adjust communication style based on the audience.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple priorities while maintaining effective relationships.
- Analytical thinking and decision-making skills for effective problem-solving.
- Organized self-starter with the ability to complete tasks independently.
