Job Description
DESCRIPTIONThe Senior Behavioral Health Unit (SBH) is a 14-bed voluntary inpatient unit for patients 65 years and older with psychiatric disorders, or for younger patients with confirmed or probable cognitive disorders. The Unit specializes in caring for older patients with acute psychiatric illnesses which may be complicated by co-morbid medical conditions. Older patients may present with medical problems, complicating their psychiatric problems. Staff is proficient in providing both psychiatric and medical care.
Under the supervision of the RN, assists in direct patient care. This includes activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, ambulating, and taking vital signs. Documents accurate information into the EMR flow sheets. Participates in milieu groups and demonstrates knowledge of therapeutic and crisis intervention skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
Medical terminology training and/or certificate.
Two (2) years of relevant experience, including one (1) year of direct patient care in an inpatient acute care setting.
Excellent communication skills with patients, staff, and other disciplines in a constructive, professional manner.
Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse adult population.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
CPI or equivalent certification.
Experience with inpatient psychiatric patients or psychiatric/rehab nursing facilities.
Previous experience working with geriatric and dementia patients.
Experience with Epic and related UCSD systems. Familiar with UCSD policies and procedures.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Must be willing to work on NBMU (Neuropsychiatry Behavioral Medicine Unit) and SBH (Senior Behavioral Health) at Hillcrest location.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $60,990 - $60,990 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $29.21 - $29.21
