The University of California, San Diego invites applications for a tenured Associate or Full Professor in the Halcolu Data Science Institute (HDSI). We seek outstanding candidates with extensive experience from across all areas of Data Sciences, as represented within HDSI's research scope, to fill this open position. Among areas of particular interest are:
1) Artificial Intelligence Foundations: includes theory and methods for strengthening AI; Natural Language Processing; Learning Representations and Statistical Learning Theory; Explainable AI; games and economic theories in AI.
2) Database Systems: includes Data Security
3) Intelligent Systems and Applications: includes methods, tools and systems for building AI-driven applications; human-cyber-physical systems such as advances in optimal control Machine Learning enabled cybersecurity; secure systems.
All candidates are expected to have a vigorous program of high-quality, federally-funded research that focuses on innovations in one of the targeted search areas. This position involves teaching university students. The successful applicant will have a strong teaching record and is expected to teach at both the graduate and undergraduate level which supports the Data Science major/minor degree programs offered by the Institute.

*PhD or equivalent in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, or a related field.
*Evidence of independent scholarly impact and research productivity.
*Evidence of and/or demonstrated ability to teach and advise students.
The ideal candidate will have an outstanding record of independent research accomplishments commensurate to a tenured appointment in a leading university, excellence in teaching and service, and a demonstrated commitment to support diversity, equity and inclusion at the university.
