Career and Professional Programs at LaGuardia Community College is seeking a part-time instructor to teach a virtual course on leadership development.
Course Dates:
Saturday, August 24, 2024 - August 31, 2024
Saturdays 10am-2pm
Modality: Online
Position: Continuing Education Teacher (CET)
Pay Rate-$40-$50/hr.
The "Leadership Exploration and Development" course is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to become effective leaders in various contexts. The course covers key leadership theories, practical strategies for leadership development, and experiential learning opportunities to foster personal and professional growth.
Responsibilities:
Course Design and Delivery:
- Develop and update course syllabus, lesson plans, and instructional materials.
- Deliver engaging and interactive lectures, workshops, and seminars.
- Integrate multimedia, case studies, and real-world examples into the curriculum.
Student Engagement and Support:
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive classroom environment.
- Mentor and guide students in their leadership development journey.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments and assessments.
Assessment and Evaluation:
- Design and administer assessments to evaluate student learning outcomes.
- Grade assignments and exams, ensuring fairness and consistency.
- Track and report student progress and performance.
Professional Development and Collaboration:
- Stay current with the latest trends and research in leadership education.
- Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience.
Qualifications:
Education:
Master’s or Doctorate in Leadership Studies, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Education, or a related field.
Experience:
- Proven experience in leadership roles within academic, corporate, or non-profit settings.
- Prior teaching or training experience, preferably in higher education or professional development contexts.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of leadership theories and practices.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and learning management systems.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom.
