Under the direction of the Student Academic Support Services (SASS) executive director, the assistant director is responsible for supervision of the career services team, managing the daily activities and resources of the department to broaden opportunities for student participation in high impact practices, expand internship opportunities; develop relationships with regional employers; and engage in cross-functional partnerships with faculty, staff, students, and alumni.

- Supervise and manage Career Services staff
- Ensure implementation of developmental career services curriculum
- Create a structure for Career Advisors to support students from first year to fourth year
- Identify obstacles and develop new pathways to manage and expand internships for credit and/or experience including course consistent engagement requirements, assessment methods, and learning outcomes
- Inventory formal and informal, credit and non-credit internship trends to determine baseline data of high impact practice
- student/department engagement and grow incrementally year to year
- Oversee, coordinate, and troubleshoot all internship administrative processes for students, employers, faculty, registrar, and other campus constituencies
- Organize and sponsor events and programming to connect employers with students
- Mitigate risk associated with internships and external placements of students through vetting and monitoring internship sites, coordinating internships agreements and approvals, and consulting with USNH legal counsel when necessary
Duty/Responsibility
- Promote the value of high impact practices and internships to students
- Implement a suite of career advising services to students covering:
- 21st century skill and job readiness to engage in internship/career searches, applications, and interviews internship pathways offered at KSC: Independent Experience (not for credit) and for Credit Experience (internship where a student receives course credit)
- student access to individual appointments, workshops, and classroom presentations
- Monitor internship search and application process, including resume and cover letter writing
Duty/Responsibility
- Cultivate and maintain professional relationships with employers to develop a scalable framework for internship recruitment, matching, support, and institutional documentation.
- Conduct employer visits and attend outside organizational meetings such as the Chambers of Commerce, Society for Human Resource Management, BAHRN, and related organizations to promote connection to KSC
- Develop and promote internship best practices for employers
- Coordinate and host events for regional employers who host KSC interns to gather and provide feedback on the internship experience
Duty/Responsibility
- Develop and maintain relationships with faculty, staff, and departments across the KSC campus to promote Career Services and internships
- Work directly with departments and faculty members to create a common intern experience with consistent engagement requirements, assessment methods, and learning outcome documentation; mitigate challenges associated with the internship process.
- In conjunction with department chairs, work with Senate committees to introduce curriculum proposals to solidify institutional, credit-bearing internships. Promote the value and process for obtaining an internship to students through partnerships with faculty and staff (classroom presentations, event presentations, etc.)
- Collaborate with Advancement and Financial Aid to develop practices and policies allowing for the integration of current and future resources to ensure students financial need is met and that they are consistently compensated

- Build and maintain relationships with KSC alumni to cultivate new internship and job opportunities
- Work closely with the KSC Alumni Relations Director to connect with alumni.
- Manage services to KSC alumni

- Participate as a fully contributing staff member of the Student Academic Support Services department and other functions as defined
- Effectively use web, communication portals, and technology as tools to effectively communicate with students, faculty, and employers
- Review departmental/campus needs and plan activities to meet those needs
- Manage annual First Destination Survey, collaborate with IR, Alumni etc.
- Assess career services, and outcomes
