The Information Technology Education (ITE) Programs department prepares students for careers within network administration, computer support, computer programming and other technical occupations in the information technology field. ITE currently offers seven certificate programs, four Associate of Science degrees and one Bachelor of Applied Science degree with three concentrations. The department is currently seeking a full-time nine (9)-month Assistant Professor to promote and encourage student success in computer science through quality instruction and real-world learning experiences beginning Fall 2025.

Under general supervision, the Assistant Professor, Networking and Security will develop, prepare, teach, and assess a variety of courses in Networking and Security. Teaching assignments may include networking and security concepts, computer repair, Windows Server, Linux and Cisco Networking Academy, and Cloud Management courses, as well as other subject areas. Teaching courses in the Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) in Information Systems Technology may also be required. Course offerings within ITE may be taught during the day and evening, using a variety of learning modalities, such as in-person, online, hybrid, and hyflex. SFC’s full-time ITE faculty have a nine (9) month base contract teaching 15 credit hours in the fall and 15 credit hours in the spring. Summer teaching opportunities may be available for additional compensation based upon departmental need.

This position’s starting salary is $48,360 annually. Any salary amount above this is commensurate upon an individual’s qualifications. Additionally, ITE faculty may receive a stipend of $9,200 as market adjustment and be paid semi-monthly in equal increments during the contract period. As a full-time employee, the incumbent will incur many college paid benefits, including health and life insurance, retirement, sick and vacation leave, 20+ paid holidays, and tuition waivers for Santa Fe College and the University of Florida.

Job Description

Responsibilities and Duties Include:

  • Plans, organizes, and delivers instruction to didactic, laboratory and/or classroom settings to promote student success within a community college setting.

  • Supports and promotes the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and timely service.

  • Collaborates with the Director, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum that cultivates the mastery of course content.

  • Demonstrates technological literacy and innovation in the delivery of instruction.

  • Works collaboratively as part of a cohesive academic team.

  • Assists with the implementation of college policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with the SF philosophy, mission, strategic initiatives, and procedures.

  • Participates in departmental meetings and collegewide committees as needed.

  • Provides students with frequent, timely assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance.

  • Appropriately documents student progress and maintains records including attendance, grading, and student learning outcomes.

  • Develops methods that fairly and accurately assess students’ progress in achieving the stated learning outcomes/objectives.

  • Maintains appropriate office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment.

  • Earning and maintaining recognized industry certifications, including CompTIA certification in A+, Network+, Security+, and Linux+, as well as CCNA Routing and Switching.

  • Strictly honors the privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal and college regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Complies with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.

  • Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.

  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Reports to: Chair, Information Technology Education and Education Programs

QUALIFICATIONS

**Required: A master's degree or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in any combination of academic majors in Computer Science or Information Technology, such as Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Information Technology, Computer Networking, Computer Science, Curriculum & Instruction, Cybersecurity, Decision & Information Technology, Digital Forensics, Educational Technology, Information Security Management, Information Systems, Information Technology, Programming and Analysis, Security Informatics, Security Management, Technology Management. Alternative academic majors: Computer Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Education in Learning Design & Technology, Information Assurance, Information & Cybersecurity, Internet Services, Technology & Communication; OR alternative academic major related to Information Technology and/or qualifying fields and three (3) to five (5) years of work-related experience in the field with demonstrated evidence of proficiency.

Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred: A doctoral degree in a qualifying field with an appropriate focus on networking. Long-term industry experience and/or extensive working knowledge of networking. Industry Standard certifications in Networking or Security.
