Biotechnology Program Coordinator, Amgen Apprenticeship (Part Time, Temporary)
Job Description
The Biotechnology Program Coordinator for the Amgen Apprenticeship is responsible for the coordination and operation of biotechnology-related programming that supports local industry. This position will support the Dean of Biotechnology Division.
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)
- Assists in coordinating the Amgen Apprenticeship program with a team of directors, faculty, industry representatives and students
- Assists in creating a supportive learning environment for students, including identifying areas for improvement and communicating information promptly
- Develops a structured plan for apprentices to receive tutoring, resources, tours, mentoring and advising, and works with internal and external stakeholders to help students achieve their goals
- Monitors student progression, creates reports and presents completion information in a professional format, such as PowerPoint or Excel, to stakeholders on a weekly basis
- Maintains inventory of laboratory biologics, reagents, consumables, materials and equipment and ordering of supplies through E-Procurement system as needed for the program
Assists in updating Blackboard modules to ensure division policies and procedures are communicated to students
Assists in events related to biotechnology, including career fairs, marketing, outreach efforts and industry relations
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
Ability to learn college applications and software with training
Basic accounting, and financial and statistical record-keeping practices
Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and be able to analyze situations accurately
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to interact positively with diverse clientele
Always maintains a professional appearance when at work or at work related functions.
Ability to handle emergency situations efficiently and effectively.
Minimum Requirements
Associate’s degree in business administration, biotechnology, office administration or related coursework
One year of administrative work experience
Must be available to work in-person on Mondays and Fridays, 8am-5pm, at the Southern Wake Campus, with other hours being flexible
Preferences
Proficiency with applications, including Colleague, Self-Service, Informer, E-Pro, and Chrome River travel expense software
Demonstrated experience working in a higher education environment
