Job Description
General summary/purpose:
The Johns Hopkins Krieger School of Arts & Sciences (KSAS) seeks a Student Life Administrator for the Summer and Intersession Program who will be responsible for the smooth delivery and support of services and programming for Summer at Hopkins students and families. The ideal person must be committed to creating an inclusive environment where all students can reach their potential emotionally, socially, intellectually, physically, and culturally. The office of Summer and Intersession Programs (OSIP), a division of the Advanced Academic Programs in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, offers rigorous credit and non-credit courses and programs in the summer and intersession terms. Each year, OSIP enrolls over 1,500 JHU undergraduates, visiting undergraduates, and pre-college students.
This is a hybrid role in the fall and spring, with full-time onsite responsibilities in the summer, including occasional weekends and evenings.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Academic & Residential Operations (35% of Time Spent)
- Assist the Director of Student Experience in developing and delivering the residential curriculum.
- Assist the Director of Student Experience in training the residential staff on minor compliance and implementing the residential curriculum.
- Assist the Director of Student Experience in managing the relationship between Summer at Hopkins and external temporary residential life staff.
- Support supervision of Summer at Hopkins residential staff.
- Coordinate all student co-curricular travel logistics, including assisting with negotiating agreements with vendors and monitoring service delivery.
- Ensure that adequate supplies and resources are ordered and available for co-curricular programming.
- Submit and manage all student housing changes to JHU's Scheduling & Events Services and residential partners.
- Collaborate with relevant campus partner offices to ensure the smooth delivery of services, including JCards, campus libraries, campus recreation, campus facilities, etc.
- Coordinate with Student Health, Student Disabilities Services, and other relevant partners to support academic, campus, and dietary accommodations.
- Serve as the Student Life Administrator for non-Pre-College populations, which could require the hiring, training, and supervision of 1-5 RA staff.
- Serve as a member of the off-hours on-call team during the summer for student emergencies.
- Assist the Director of Student Experience with developing and managing partnerships with community organizations in Baltimore City that serve as co-educators to Summer at Hopkins students.
Student Recruitment & Onboarding (35% of Time Spent)
- Guide and support students and families through the enrollment and onboarding process.
- Assist with monitoring and responding to Summer@Hopkins general email boxes and phone calls.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to produce recruitment and onboarding communications.
- Provide operations support for in-person and virtual information sessions and orientation.
- Monitor 1-2 student team members who support student/family communications and social media content creation.
- Assist with anti-melt measures from post-admit to the start of coursework.
Student Engagement (25% of Time Spent)
- Establish expectations for student conduct and accountability in the residence hall.
- Manage residential student accountability in coordination with the Director of Student Experience and the Executive Director for the Office of Summer and Intersession Programs.
- Assist with building and maintaining a sense of community among students, both virtually and on campus, from post-admission through the following fall semester.
- Assist with designing and implementing online student activities to build a stronger community amongst online summer Pre-College students.
- Assist with student recruitment.
- Assist with intersession communication as needed.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit in a normal seated position for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
- Must stand for extended periods during in-person workshops and special events.
- Dexterity of hands to operate a computer keyboard, mouse pad, and other office machinery.
- The incumbent must communicate regularly via email, telephone, and face-to-face with internal and external customers and must be able to exchange accurate and timely information in these settings.
- The position also requires a degree of mobility common to working in an office environment; bending, kneeling, or standing during events and presentations may be required.
Supervisory Responsibility
- Supervision of student workers and temporary summer residential staff.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Three years related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree.
- Four to six years of related experience.
- Previous experience in higher education.
- Previous experience in residential life.
- Previous operations experience with summer programs.
- Previous experience working with middle and high school-aged students and undergraduates.

Starting Salary Range: $48,000 - $66,000 - $84,100 Annually (Commensurate with experience)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00 pm (Requires some evenings and weekends)
