Position Summary

The Coordinator of Early College Programs provides strategic and operational oversight for the College's dual enrollment initiatives with P12 institutions, homeschools, business, and industry partners and promotes access to pathways, programming, and support for dual enrolled students seeking to earn workforce readiness credentials, accelerated college credit, and other postsecondary credentials. The position provides leadership to the implementation of strategies and processes for continuous improvement related to all aspects of dual enrollment instructional support services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development, promotion, and strategic planning for the Office of Early College Programs.
  • Provide leadership for the College's dual enrollment initiatives (e.g., dual credit, accelerated high school, early college).
  • Prepare purchase orders for dual enrollment for approval per the College's purchasing policy and procedures.
  • Assist with SACSCOC off-site campus compliance related to dual enrollment.
  • Serve as the College's administrative point of contact for off-site dual enrollment stakeholders such as counselors, dual credit faculty, and secondary administrators.
  • Develop, direct, evaluate, and refine all dual enrollment program activities and systems in coordination with ACCS and other applicable agencies.
  • Oversee the creation of and support for guided pathways for dual enrolled students to earn certificates, industry recognized credentials, and associate degrees while simultaneously completing a high school or homeschool diploma.
  • Expand and strengthen dual enrollment partnerships with high schools, home schools, and business and industry partners within the College's service area.
  • Serve as the liaison between the College and local boards of education for dual enrollment issues.
  • Develop a tracking system for dual enrollment students.
  • Assist with dual enrollment orientation, registration, and onboarding activities.
  • Initiate, develop, and maintain formal dual enrollment and early college partnership agreements with Local Education Agencies (county, city, private, and home school agencies).
  • Write, develop, and administer the annual dual enrollment grant and reports for ACCS.
  • Collaborate with deans and divisions chairs in the recruitment of appropriately credentialed instructors for dual enrollment and in the schedule of courses and programs on site.
  • Oversee off-site dual credit schedule of courses for accuracy and compliance.
  • Supervise alI dual enrollment staff.
  • Collaborate with division chairs to conduct orientation sessions for teachers to clearly identify the aspects of the program as well as College policies, regulations, requirements, etc.
  • Maintain a general knowledge of other College policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of STARS, Canvas, and other related software to assist dual enrolled students and faculty.
  • Participate in annual planning and evaluation sessions in support of the College's vision, statement of purpose, and institutional goals and objectives.
  • Work with Institutional Effectiveness to implement student evaluation of instruction and collect assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain an understanding of best practices and current research for early college programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of instructional Services and/or President.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Master degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience in an instructional leadership role.
  • Experience in classroom observations/evaluation and/or program evaluation.
  • Experience in the use of current educational technologies in the workplace including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, data reporting software, and presentation software.
  • Experience in developing and implementing dual enrollment partnerships.
  • Experience in monitoring programs to ensure compliance with applicable accrediting bodies (e.g., SACSCOC).

Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience in operational planning, policy development, and outcome/needs assessment.
  • Experience with managing program budgets and staff.
  • Experience with the design and implementation of professional development activities.
  • Experience in grant writing and or/management.

Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Learned physical skill is required for keyboarding. Frequent walking, standing, or sitting may be required. Working hours may vary and occasional evening or weekend work is required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily.

The Selection Committee will screen all applicants for the position. Sick Leave
All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Up to 10 days a year of professional development leave with pay may be granted by the President.

Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA. The TRS is a defined benefit plan qualified under Section 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code. All regular full-time and part-time employees (non-temporary and non- student) who work at least 20 hours per week are required to participate in The Teachers' Retirement System of Alabama.
Tier I - Pays 7.50% monthly. State matches 13.57% (effective 10/01/24)
Tier II – Pays 6.20% monthly. State matches 12.60% (effective 10/01/24)
Law Enforcement Officers:
Tier I-Pays 8.50% monthly. State matches 13.57% (effective 10/01/24)

Health Insurance
PEEHIP, established in 1983, provides health insurance benefits for active and retired education employees and is governed by the PEEHIP Board of Control.
